On April 2nd KONE celebrated the Grand Opening of another key facility — our brand new Technical Service Center!
KONE has spent the past year transforming our business and call-center into a premier venue for customer service, training, and advancements in elevator and escalator technology. For the first time, KONE employees, spare parts, technical support, training for escalator and elevator service, and product development will be housed under one roof to further enhance customer service throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Most exciting is the Center’s new Training Center, which will prepare our field technicians to pinpoint problems and execute repairs quickly in the field. In-house simulators and rigorous on-site training classes will keep our technicians on the forefront of upgrades to elevator and escalator systems. In addition, the facility will create and house reference videos that our field technicians can access remotely even after they have completed the training.
Technicians today need expertise in a greater range of equipment, spare parts and service tools than ever before. In fact, over 50 percent of the equipment we maintain was originally produced by another manufacturer. To make sure our technicians have the best knowledge and skills for doing their job, the Training Center also houses the KONE Service Tool (KST), developed by Technical Services to train technicians on non-KONE equipment and preparing them to diagnose and repair components from any manufacturer they encounter in the field.
The Center will also house our KONE Spares department, which stocks a wide range of spare parts for elevators and escalators and can supply parts for equipment from other manufacturers. KONE’s spare part warehouse has over one million parts stocked in our inventory for both KONE and non-KONE equipment. The spare parts inventory and support are available for emergency shipping 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
