KONE strengthens commitment to downtown with the development of its Moline-based Technical Services Center

KONE Inc., press release, March 14, 2012

KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry with its U.S. Operations Center based in Moline, Ill., today announced it has entered into a lease agreement with Financial District Properties to move its Technical Services, Americas operations to the properties at 325 19th St. in downtown Moline.

The renovated facility will bring KONE employees, spare parts, training and technology under one roof to further enhance customer service throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. It will be strategically located near the new KONE Centre, which will house administrative operations and the KONE Customer Care Center. Currently, the Company’s spare parts division, KONE Spares and the KONE Customer Care Center are located in the building.

“The new KONE Technical Services Center, coupled with the new KONE Centre, will provide our employees with a leading workplace while enhancing customer service,” said Vance Tang, EVP and Area Director of KONE Americas.

The new KONE Centre is designed to meet gold LEED standards by focusing on energy efficiency and using recycled and renewable construction materials. It will feature KONE’s own energy-efficient building transportation solutions, including the KONE EcoDisc® hoisting motor, power regenerative drives and destination control technology.

“KONE would like to thank the City of Moline, the City Council Members, Renew Moline, Lew Steinbrecher and Mayor Don Wevaert for their efforts and continued support which made the KONE Centre possible,” Tang continued. “Their work continues to make Moline a great place to do business and we are thrilled to further our commitment to downtown and the Quad Cities.”

The Technical Services Center includes spare parts supply along with development and administration of Technical Support and Training programs for elevator and escalator service, modernization and construction employees throughout the Americas regions.

The new Technical Services Center is scheduled to open later this year, following the planned June opening of the KONE Centre.
